(Jasper, TX) – CHRISTUS Southeast Texas Health System is happy to announce the addition of a new endoscopy system to CHRISTUS Southeast Texas Jasper Memorial Hospital. The hospital system implemented the Olympus Evis Exera II earlier this year.

The new equipment comes equipped with high-definition imaging which far exceeds conventional video – matching the video quality seen with top of the line high definition televisions. The system also includes Narrow Band Imaging, which enhances the view of blood vessels while providing better contrast - which leads to easier diagnoses.

“This new equipment causes abnormal tissue to glow, which allows us to find any abnormalities with ease,” explains Carla Hollis, Surgical Director at CHRISTUS Southeast Texas Jasper Memorial Hospital. Additionally, the Olympus Evis Exera II provides physicians at Jasper Memorial Hospital with the ability to perform pediatric cases – a treatment option that was not possible with previous endoscopy equipment.

CHRISTUS Southeast Texas Health System invested $161,650 into this latest capital expense. Wayne Moore, President of CHRISTUS Southeast Texas Jasper Memorial Hospital says the community benefit far exceeds the cost. “Before we added this technology to our hospital, Jasper residents needed to travel well outside of our community for this type of treatment. This investment saves time and money for our community, and continues to show our commitment to providing the best and latest advancements in health care – right here in Jasper.”

To schedule an appointment, patients must request a referral from their primary care physician to Dr. Christopher Hoyt, General Surgeon with CHRISTUS Jasper Surgical Associates. For additional information, please call 409.384.1882.
