The Jasper Independent School District has announced that the Texas Rangers division of the Texas Department of Public Safety will present their Protection of Children Program in the Jasper High School Auditorium on Tuesday, January 21st at 6:30 p.m., and anyone in the community who is interested is invited to attend.
Organizers say the program will be presented by Lieutenant James Thomas, a native of Newton and 1997 graduate of Newton High School.
According to Jasper ISD officials, the program, which will last about one hour, is for parents and community members regarding safety issues. Officials say the intended audience includes middle school age students and older, parents, educators, community members and stakeholders, community leaders, and law enforcement personnel.
School officials noted that the presentation will not include any graphic language or photos.
According to organizers, the training will discuss the Texas Department of Public Safety’s Interdiction for the Protection of Children program, and provide a broad overview of the threat present in our communities, explain the risk posed to children, and emphasize the need to work together to protect our future.
