The Hardin County Health Department is reporting 151 new lab-confirmed cases of
COVID-19 in Hardin County this week, which is unfortunate, but due to a large number
of recoveries over the past 7 days, our number of Active cases is only up by 19
since this time last week. I appreciate the hard work that your Public Health staff
continues to do on behalf of all citizens of Hardin and Orange Counties.

Sadly, we lost two (2) more Hardin County residents to COVID since last Wednesday:

- A 92 year-old Silsbee man who previously tested positive for COVID passed away on
July 25th after being hospitalized since July 19th.
- A 68 year-old Sour Lake man who previously tested positive for COVID passed away
on July 28th.

Both of these men died because they were infected with the Coronavirus. I will no
longer make a statement as to whether or not they had other health issues because
that is irrelevant - If they did not contract the SARS-CoV-2 disease, then they
would still be with us. I am asking that everyone pray for the families and friends
of these men, and for all others in our county, region and state who have lost loved
ones to this virus.

Please stay safe and well - Let's all do our part to slow the spread of COVID-19
without the continued divisiveness. If we can come together more, educate ourselves
and our families with accurate information, and follow all of the safety protocols
in place, then we can defeat this virus together!
