Booker T. Hunter, the President of the Jasper chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People has announced that the annual Martin Luther King Day March in Jasper has been cancelled.

Hunter and other NAACP officials say this is out of concern for local Coronavirus numbers.

Meanwhile, the officials say they hope to resume the annual event in January of 2022, assuming that Coronavirus will be well under control by that time.

MLK Day is Monday, January 18th. Falling on the third Monday of January each year, the holiday celebrates the January 15th birthday of civil rights icon Dr. Martin Luther King.
