A new Civil Air Patrol group is forming in Leesville and organizers are inviting pilots and aviation enthusiasts to join.
Originally founded in the late 1930’s, the Civil Air Patrol was originally designed to supplement American military operations. It is a congressionally chartered, federally supported non-profit organization that serves as the official civilian auxiliary of the United States Air Force.
Organizers say the Leesville chapter will hold weekly meetings every Tuesday evening from 6:30 to 8:40 in the conference room of the Leesville Municipal Airport, located on Highway 8, 4 miles west of Leesville.
The Civil Air Patrol welcomes members age 12 and up.
