With a later date and a new venue, the Jasper Lake Sam Rayburn Area Chamber of Commerce’s 102nd Annual Chairman’s Banquet is slated for Friday, July 30th at Harvest Church on South Wheeler Street.
The event is normally held during the winter and inside the Wesley Center at First United Methodist Church. However, this year Chamber Director Beverly Holley said that it was delayed due to concerns about Coronavirus and having a large concentration of people.
As for a change in location, Holley said for various reasons they're moving it from the Wesley Center. Holley said that initially the Chamber wanted to use The Event Center, but it was already booked up. So, instead, officials with Harvest Church offered the use of their Family Life Center and the Chamber accepted.
With the banquet being held in July, organizers have announced a ‘Laid Back Hot Summer Night’ theme this year and they encourage everyone to wear Hawaiian or beach style clothing.
In addition to several awards in different categories for individuals, businesses, and organizations, the most anticipated award is Citizen of the Year which, last year, was presented to Father Ron Foshage of St Michael’s Catholic Church.
Tickets are $25.00 each and are available for purchase at the Chamber of Commerce on Highway 96, or you can call them at 409-384-2762.
Photos will begin at 5:30 p.m. and the banquet begins at 6:00 p.m., featuring pork and chicken shish-kabobs, and also the annual cake auction.
