Texas Parks & Wildlife Game Wardens are currently involved in a water rescue on Lake Sam Rayburn. The incident occurred shortly after 4:00 near Rattlesnake Island, and just as very heavy thunderstorms began rolling across the lake from the east to the west.

Jasper County 911 dispatchers initially said that a woman and two children were on a boat that sank and they were in the water. All three were reportedly wearing life jackets.

However, word came a few minutes later that the number of people in the water had increased to nine people. Two of those people reportedly were not wearing life jackets.

Meanwhile, Game Wardens say the wind and waves were causing them issues in trying to reach the people.

As all of this was happening, the Jasper County Sheriff’s Department received another report that an unoccupied jet-ski was seen adrift near Rattlesnake Island.

KJAS News will continue to monitor the situation and we’ll update this story as new information comes in.
