I, Sheriff Bryan Weatherford, would like to take this opportunity to announce my intention to seek re-election as your Tyler County Sheriff. An honor you have entrusted in me since 2013. Serving as your Sheriff is more to me than just having an address in Tyler County. It is about my family and I being part of this community and my life-long service to the citizens of Tyler County.

I was born and raised in Tyler County by my parents Bill and Janice Weatherford who were graduates of Kirby High School. I have a brother, Brad Weatherford, who is a Texas Ranger with the Texas Department of Public Safety. I raised my children Zaccary, Tyler Bryan, and Ashton Weatherford in Tyler County with Tyler Bryan currently employed as a State Trooper with the Texas Department of Public Safety. My wife Ashley is the Director of Curriculum and Federal Programs with the Woodville Independent School District and we are members of the First Baptist Church of Woodville.

After graduating from Woodville High School in 1986, I studied Criminal Justice at Angelina College. I went on to attend the East Texas Police Academy and began my career in law enforcement with the Woodville Police Department in 1991. I served the citizens of Woodville as a patrolman for 11 years, promoted to the rank of Sergeant and named interim Chief by the Woodville City Council in 1998.

In 2002 I was elected to serve the citizens of Tyler County as Justice of the Peace. During my three terms as Justice of the Peace, I conducted over 500 inquests, presided over misdemeanor and small claims court hearings, and issued arrest and search warrants based on peace officer’s affidavits and complaints. I was honored to be inducted into the Texas College of Justice Court Judges in 2011.

Since elected as your Tyler County Sheriff in 2013, it has been with great pride and distinction to lead the professional and dedicated men and women of the Tyler County Sheriff’s Office, whose priority is to serve and protect the citizens of Tyler County. Under my leadership, the Tyler County Sheriff’s Office has made the following enhancements:

● Dedicated Narcotic Interdiction Deputies focused solely on assisting Patrol Deputies in combating drug issues in our community ● Expanded Investigative Division to provide more comprehensive and thorough investigations into crimes against persons and property ● Obtained criminal investigation digital forensic software which has provided invaluable information, leading to arrests of multiple offenders in our community ● Instituted regular checks of Sex Offenders living in Tyler County with all registration violations referred to the Tyler County District Attorney for prosecution ● Obtained multiple grants for training and ballistic vests for Deputies ● Participated in the Lufkin Crime Stoppers and Dam B Community Watch Program which has led to arrests and recovering of property ● Emphasized participation and collaboration with our local, state, and federal law enforcement partners

In addition to serving as your Tyler County Sheriff, I previously presided over the Tyler County Chamber of Commerce and Woodville Lions Club. I am also a member of the National and Texas Sheriff’s Associations as well as the East Texas Police Officers Association.

I have served the citizens of Tyler County for the previous 28 years and my greatest honor has not only been serving as your Tyler County Sheriff, but also being part of the Tyler County community. I hope I have earned your support and confidence over the past seven years and can count on your vote for another four years as your Tyler County Sheriff.
