Mark Brantley, who is accused of shooting and killing a man on Primrose Street told police they have the wrong man.

A man who was wanted in connection with a shooting death that occurred on Tuesday evening on the north side of Beaumont says he did not pull the trigger or have anything to do with the crime.

Shortly after his arrest on Wednesday Mark Wayne Brantley, 27, of Beaumont told reporters that he was instead at a gambling casino in Lake Charles at the time of the shooting.

Police believe Brantley shot Joseph Andrew Frank at a home in the 2400 block of Primrose Street. Police were called to the location when it was reported that a shooting had occurred and arrived to find Frank dead in the driveway.

Brantley was taken to the Jefferson Jail, where he was at last word still being hell under $1 million dollars bail.

A cause of motive for the shooting is still unknown.
