Graveside Services for Veebee "Nanna" Hext will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at Evergreen Cemetery in Jasper, Texas.
A native & life long resident of Jasper, she was a 1960 graduate of Jasper High School. She married the love of her life, John Alvis Hext, prior to graduation, and they were married 39 years at the time of his death.
A past member of The First Baptist Church of Jasper her Christian faith was important to her and she was a member of Adams Memorial Baptist Church at the time of her death.
Her family wrote:
"Nanna will be deeply missed by her three grandchildren. Veebee was greeted at the golden gates of Heaven by the love of her life John Alvis, finally reunited after all these years."
"Mom was a strong willed, independent, beautiful person who gave her children & grandkids everything she could possibly. Nanna put everyone around her first way before she thought of herself. The pain & suffering she has endured on this Earth only proves the extraordinary reward she is receiving in Heaven above. -Holly"
Veebee is survived by her son John Michael Hext & wife Dena of Jasper; daughter Holly Hext Schell & husband Christopher of Groves; three grandchildren Alexandra Pennington, Tyler Pennington, & J.D. Hext; she is also survived by her beloved Shih-Tzu Susie.
She was preceded in death by her parents Vernon & Odele Whitehead and husband John Alvis Hext Jr.
