Jasper Police on Monday began a city-wide roundup of those who have not paid traffic fines and other court fees. Officers hit the streets and were soon taking into custody several people with arrest warrants.
The roundup should have come as no surprise to the individuals named in the warrants. Last week, police announced through the media that they would be conducting the operation, and they gave people a chance to contact Jasper Municipal Court before the officers came to get them.
Police say if you have a warrant for your arrest, but you have not yet been taken into custody, you may still have time to contact court officials and get your affairs in order to avoid the embarrassment or inconvenience of being arrested in front of your family or co-workers.
